Well first of all for those who are confused by the title, read on to know why it is so..!!
Moving on................
It all started with a lot of obstacles coming our way, like Karthik not getting a day off from work, Joy ditching us at the last minute, then we emotionally blackmailing him to come, not able to book tickets coz entire Bangalore thought it would be fun to landup in Gokarna the same weekend - to name a few. The only things constant in all these hassles were Sujith and I.
Well now that I ve introduced the crew, its time we found out what Gokarna had in store for us.
So after the dust had settled on the issues facing us prior to the journey, we all boarded our ever so luckily found last 4 tickets to Gokarna in SeaBird travels on the 30th of April @ 9:10pm and we quickly found ourselves getting into the vacation mood [almost a tongue twister there]. It was a long journey of 10hrs which finally saw us reach the Gokarna Temple road. After a couple of mins walk we reached the main Gokarna beach. Now our first mission, to find a cozy place to settle in. We decided to take the trek to the next beach Kudle head on not realising how tiring it could be in the heat of Gokarna. After a Hop, Skip and a Jump [:)] we landed in Kudle keeping our hopes alive of finding a place to stay. And we found one indeed, a nice little hut with a fan and lighting with an open air village style shower for a steal. We all settled ourselves and grabbed a nice little brunch and lazed the rest of the day in the beach. Even though the beach is a little dirty we didn care coz it was one most relaxing days that we had experienced in a long long time. The evening wind carried a soothing effect around. We hit our beds and next day we were up and running, all excited to go to the next beach, probably the most famous and overly crowded Gokarna beaches of all,Om beach.
It was offseason and there was not a single room available in any of the beach cafes that lined Om beach, this upholds the Om beach fame. Relatively cleaner but crowded. We did the needful [read played in the beach] and headed back to hut sweet hut at Kudle, enjoyed dinner with a dose of IPL and crashed on our beds.
Day 3 and we decided to explore the rest of the beaches, Half Moon and Paradise beaches, and believe me wen i say that it was the best treks that we could ve ever taken. The sheer rush of walking on a small trail staring at the sea below or juming from 1 rock to the other or literally discovering routes through the shrubs that blocked our way. It was a whole new level of experience. After an amazing 45 mins of trek through the rugged trail we reached the serene and green watered Half Moon beach and enjoyed a scenic view of the sea kissng the rocks [poetic license :)].
After a quick refreshing break we set out on our quest to the Next of the 5 beaches, Paradise beach. Another gruelling trek of 45 mins saw us land in the bliss that was Paradise. Virtually deserted, the view was the best you could ask for and probably the only thing that came to my mind was how i wish i lived here...!!
A brief halt there and we were back on our feet, Back to base camp. Carried ourselves back to Om beach without losing the way, had a quick dip, and refilled our energy levels for the trek back to Kudle where we had a very refreshing shower and set out to Gokarna town for our bus back to Bangalore and back to our daily silly routines.
With Gokarna fresh on our minds the reason this blog is named "Lost in translation - Weekend at GOKARNA" is because everybody enjoys the beaches here especially Om beach but they never enjoy the refreshing [in its own wierd way] treks between the beaches especially the ones from Om to Half Moon and Half Moon to Paradise. And also the soothing evening beauty that is Kudle.
